time consuming. Once you get the hang of it and figure out exactly what you want it seems to go quicker. I love this project because you can use it for so many different things like weddings, gifts, your home, and parties. The possibilities are endless. Really!

What you will need:

The first thing you want to do is make sure the glass you are working with is clean. This is where the glass cleaner comes in. Whatever is underneath the etch cream stays there. That includes finger prints, dirt, and paper towel residue.

You will need to use vinyl to cut out your stencil. I find it easier to use the cricut for the cutout. Make sure you leave enough room at the top, bottom, and sides to have a little play with the etching cream. Just remember, with this project you are using the part of the vinyl that you would normally throw away or use for scraps so make sure you keep all the extra pieces to complete the letter. For example with the letter A make sure you keep the triangle piece. Place the stencil on the glass making sure it is smooth around the edges of the letter. This process is the hardest and takes the most time. You want to make sure the letters are straight and have no jagged edges around the letter part. I find it easiest to place the top on the glass while holding the bottom with my other figures. Then take the very bottom and pull gently up and then down. Doing it this way lets the letter kind of lay in it natural position. If you have questions about this process let me know and I will get my husband to take a picture for me. I couldn’t take one with this process since I had to use both hands.

Now for the easy part. Put a thick layer of etching cream on the letter. Make sure to get all of the letter covered

LOVE this idea, and I think it is so great that you included an opotin for readers who don’t own a Cricut or a Silhouette! I have an etched glass pie plate, but I’m not crazy about the design. I think I need to save up for some etching cream—cause it’s expensive. 😉
